The district association of the Düsseldorf FDP is fast. While other parties are still determining their candidates for the federal election in September 2021, the members met on Friday evening (March 12th) and already had the next but one election on the agenda. Rainer Matheisen, Christine Rachner, Daniela Masberg and Laura Litzius were nominated for the election of the 18th NRW state parliament in 2022.

The tiers of the Castello Hall offered sufficient space for the FDP members
The FPD had decided against a digital general meeting and kept their distance together in the Castello Halle in the south of Düsseldorf. Fever measurements at the entrance, FFP2 masks and a long distance were required for everyone. So only the board and the presidium took place in the interior of the hall. The members were distributed among the stands.

The pink ballot boxes of the FDP were used
There were five applicants for the four Düsseldorf electoral districts of the state elections, 41 – north, 42 – east, 43 – west and 44 – south. While Moritz Kracht and Rainer Matheisen went into a fight vote in the north of Düsseldorf, the women ran for the other three districts without opposing candidates.

Rainer Matheisen is happy about the election result
Rainer Matheisen, who currently sits in the state parliament for the FDP, was nervous. He wanted to represent his party and Düsseldorf for a second term in the state parliament. In Moritz Kracht, the deputy district chairman of the Düsseldorf FDP, he had a strong opponent. Out of 181 valid votes cast, Matheisen got 96 and Kracht 81. This means that Matheisen will again enter the race for the FDP in the north of Düsseldorf.
With Christine Rachner for the East of Düsseldorf, Daniela Masberg for the West and Laura Litzius for the South, three women complete the quartet of candidates.

With Frederik F. Hartmann and Sara Nanni, the Düsseldorf Greens are entering the federal election campaign. In a digital general meeting on Tuesday evening (February 23rd) the two introduced themselves and were elected without a dissenting vote. As the election regulations provide for all parties, this vote must be confirmed by postal vote.

The Düsseldorf SPD is now led by a double seat. A virtual party conference on Saturday (February 6th) elected Annika Maus (34) and Oliver Schreiber (38) as new chairmen. As a duo, they received 82.4 percent (absolute: 136) approval. 21 Düsseldorf Social Democrats (12.7 percent) voted against the leadership duo, eight delegates received each other. At her side are Zanda Martens and Umut Iyidogan on the new SPD executive committee as a vice team. After the painful defeat in the local elections in September, the Düsseldorf SPD exchanged its entire party leadership. The previous party leader, Andreas Rimkus, did not run for the office of party chairman again after ten years.
