Italian woman mistakenly received six doses of coronavirus vaccine at once
After a medical error, the girl was placed under round-the-clock supervision in a hospital for a day.
In Italy, a 23-year-old student received six doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech coronavirus vaccine at once. This was announced on Monday, May 10 газета Corrieredella Sera.
As the young woman herself said, she came to be vaccinated at a hospital in the city of Massa Carrara on Sunday morning, because she is doing an internship at the hospital.
After the introduction of the vaccine, the medical staff immediately noticed the error, and the girl was told about the incident.
“I was very scared, because there is no literature describing such cases,” she said, complaining of headaches and discomfort in her hand.
At the moment, the Italian is already at home. She was kept in the hospital for 24 hours under observation. She’s not going to sue the nurse.
It is noted that the Pfizer drug is supplied in ampoules, each of which is designed for six doses. The girl was injected with a full ampoule. Some health professionals believe that excess drug may result in the lack of the desired effect.
According to the Ministry of Health of the republic, at the moment, almost 7.5 million people (12.5% of the population) have completed the vaccination cycle. A total of 24 million doses of injections have been made.
Let us remind you that Italy is planning lift quarantine restrictions for travelers arriving from European countries, the UK and Israel, as early as mid-May in an effort to revitalize the tourism industry.
