The 38-year-old drove his car with St. Gallen license plates on Arbonerstrasse from Wittenbach in the direction of Roggwil, as the St. Gallen cantonal police announced on Saturday. For unknown reasons, he went off the road to the right in a left-hand bend near the Städeli.
His car then drove onto Wiesland and crashed into a white post and a traffic sign, as it was called. After a few meters off the road, the man drove back onto the road. A patrol from the St. Gallen cantonal police met the man at his place of residence some time later. The public prosecutor of the canton of St. Gallen ordered a blood and urine sample from the man. The police are looking for witnesses.
