District ordered temporary closure of the Barranquillita and El Playón markets

As a preventive sanitary measure aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19, the District Mayor’s Office ordered the temporary closure of the public markets called Barranquillita (for meat) and El Playón, starting at 00:00 hours on Monday, June 29 until on July 13 at 12:00 at night.

The measure was issued, through resolution 0160 of June 27, 2020, by the district secretary of Health, Humberto Mendoza, receiving a recommendation from the Epidemiological Surveillance Group that carried out an inspection and active search for possible symptoms of COVID-19 in the squares of La Magola, El Boliche, El Guineo, El Plátano, Barranquillita (meat), El Playón, El Pescado and Vegetables markets.

The District has maintained vigilance and support in these market places and has implemented various preventive actions, including the installation of a sanitary fence in the entire Barranquillita sector, on June 18, when Mayor Jaime Pumarejo Heins toured this area that was identified as a focus of contagion.

Market situation

The manager of Public Markets of the District, Juan Camilo Jaimes, specified that with this determination the essential product squares, which are open, attending the public in person, applying ‘peak and identity card’ and biosafety protocols are EMP, Plaza de Seafood.

While the non-essential product squares, which are closed, without providing home delivery due to the type of products or services are: Fedecafé, Miami II, Plaza Ujueta.

Likewise, he indicated that the places that are providing home delivery are Miami I and La Magola.
