GenPI.co East Java – Probolinggo Regency was designated as an area with an extraordinary incidence (KLB) of diphtheria, in response to this, the local Health Office (Dinkes) immediately held a mass diphtheria vaccination.
“We carried out mass diphtheria vaccination specifically in Gili Ketapang Village because there was one death case,” said Plt. Secretary of the Probolinggo District Health Office, Mujoko, Saturday (19/3).
Mujoko explained that his party had provided maximum assistance according to the existing standard operating procedures, but when his condition began to recover then it continued to deteriorate and he died.

Receiving this information, finally an epidemiological investigation was carried out and at the same time a mapping of the factors and recommendations of East Java Province for mass immunization was carried out.
“We quickly got the Decree on the Determination of KLB from the Acting Regent of Probolinggo and it was carried out with diphtheria vaccination,” he said.

He explained that actually, the target of 5-6 days with a total population of 8,268 people, the diphtheria mass vaccination was completed.
“However, in reality it has been almost 10 days and it has not yet been completed,” he said.

According to him, this requires strengthening of the main cross-sectors and the Health Office as field implementers when it is an outbreak.
