Mario Aji creating history as an Indonesian racer with the highest finish in the Grand Prix after finishing 14th in the race Moto3 Mandalika 2022 at the Mandalika Circuit, Sunday (20/4).
Mario Aji finished in 14th position which is the best finish in Indonesian history in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing event. The previous record was held by Doni Tata Pradita and Andi Gilang who were able to finish in 15th position.
Mario Aji had difficulties when he started. The Honda Team Asia racer slipped to seventh position at the start of the race despite starting from third position. Mario Aji was then able to compete with other drivers in the top ten positions.
But the 18-year-old racer failed to maintain consistency until he was thrown from the top 15 position which is the Grand Prix point zone.
Continuing to struggle to compete, Mario Aji then slipped to 19th position in a few laps before the race ended. But luck favored Mario Aji.
Four drivers crashed on the last lap, including Andrea Migno, who won the Qatar Grand Prix two weeks ago. This made Mario Aji successfully finish in 14th position and scored a history of points for Indonesia.
Italian racer Dennis Foggia managed to become the winner of Moto3 Mandalika 2022 after defeating Izan Guevara and Carlos Tatay.
