Dijon: parking ticket suspended until May 25

Dijon | Transport – At the station, heightened vigilance and redesigned path

To cope with the influx of travelers, the SNCF has equipped the Dijon station with stickers and labels aimed at ensuring respect for social distancing. A protocol rather well received by travelers.

Monday, May 11 in the morning, in the hall of the Dijon station where signs and signs have been installed, few people are in a hurry. The most numerous remain the police dispatched on the spot, who are posted at each entry to ensure that the sanitary measures are respected by the travelers. “This is an educational device that complements the police officers,” said director of communications Nabil Djaafer.

With the heavy rain on Monday, the platforms remain deserted. Only a few travelers are waiting inside for their train. Among them, Medaline and Shelki Fejzo. Equipped with a fabric mask, the couple from Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire), went to Dijon on Monday morning for health reasons. “There are trains every two hours; if we had had the choice, we would have taken the car, ”remarks Medaline, astonished at the number of people crossed on the way to go to the CHU (university hospital center). “I thought there would be really less people,” she slips.

Five thousand travelers in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Monday

During the confinement period, there were an average of a thousand travelers a day in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. “Today, at the end of the day, we leave on a projection of five thousand travelers in the region,” notes the director of communication. To anticipate this influx, a route has been set up with stickers. Inside the trains, places were also equipped with a sign indicating that one could not install oneself there in order to respect social distanciations. Same practice in waiting places within the station where travelers are invited to use only one chair out of two.

First disappointment for Dijon residents traveling to Mulhouse

If traffic resumes its course at Dijon station, some travelers have however had to adapt to the unexpected. Thus Stéphanie, 34, who had planned to return to see her family in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) after two months of confinement in Dijon, could not leave. “The train stopped at the station at 8:30 am, but the doors did not open. There were no agents on the platforms, so we couldn’t open them, ”she regrets, now waiting for the next train at 1:00 pm *.

Same disappointment for Jade, who had to take the same train to return to Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), after spending his confinement with his parents in Dijon. A strange feeling for the Alsatian woman who says “almost never left during confinement” to return to normal life and its hazards. “We realize that there is tension in the air,” she notes.

* Contacted on this subject, the SNCF was not able to answer us before the publication of this article.

We realize that there is tension in the air.
