VATICAN, KOMPAS.TV – Pope Francis expressed his sorrow on Sunday (6/6/2021) at the discovery of the bones of 215 indigenous students in a boarding school run and funded by the Catholic Church in Canada.

The Pope urged the relevant authorities to investigate this sad scandal. However, the Pope did not apologize as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau requested.

In his address to the congregation in St. Peter at the Vatican, Pope Francis spoke about the importance of healing. However, according to Associated PressPope Francis made no mention of Trudeau’s insistence two days earlier that the Vatican should apologize and take responsibility.

“It is with a heavy heart that I follow the news coming from Canada of the sad discovery of the remains of 215 children,” Pope Francis said during Sunday mass.
