Delegation of tasks in health: The NGO ASAPSU, a fine example
In the field of community health, the Association for Support to Self-Promotion of Urban Health (Asapsu), headed by Koné Solange, can be considered as a model.
Indeed, like the Delegation of tasks which facilitates the access of women and girls to questions of sexual and reproductive health (Ssr / Pf), this NGO works since its creation (1989) with the communities. “To date, one of the representatives of the community is the president of Asapsu. This means that we have had confidence in this type of collaboration with the community for a very long time, ”she adds.
This organization includes five health centers in Abidjan municipalities run by community health assistants (Asc), specializing in questions of HIV-AIDS, nutrition and vaccination. “This advantage allowed us to work easily on family planning, because the Asc were already imbued with these themes,” explained Ms. Koné Solange.
Regarding her work strategy, the executive director of Asapsu maintains: really need health services. We are in 12 regions of Côte d’Ivoire ”.
