Modica, 18 August 2020 – “The child has suffered brutal beatings“. The investigators underline this in the day in which one takes place new twist in the tragedy of one year old child who died in Modica. After the woman’s neighbor was arrested yesterday (Monday), Salvatore Blanco, 32 years old from Noto (it is not the father of the child who works far from Sicily), today the Prosecutor of Syracuse has ordered the stationary – on charges of voluntary homicide and mistreatment in the family – also of the mother of the little boy of 21 months, Evan, who died yesterday in the hospital of Modica, in the Ragusa area, and who presented injuries on the body.
Even towards the young woman, Letizia Spatola, 23 years old, the Prosecutor assumes the same crimes of voluntary homicide and mistreatment in the family. The two, residing in a public house in Rosolini (Syracuse), were taken in jail by agents of the Modica police station who are investigating.
It will be the autopsy on the little body to reveal the causes of death even if i bruises found on the baby’s neck and body would do hypothesize the worst as the investigators are assuming with the two stops: a killing it would have been the beatings received. “Brutal beatings” the investigators said.
The doctor who visited Evan when the child arrived in the emergency room of the ‘Maggiore’ hospital he remained without words, enough to notify the police immediately. And it was the woman’s story that brought the agents to the man who was arrested yesterday evening. Today the further turning point with the arrest of the mother too.
