There are still many uncertainties about the circumstances in which the tragic collision took place on Sunday evening. Also because there are no witnesses to the facts. The accident happened on a strip in the middle of the green, just before the point where the construction on Breden Els begins. Neighbors say they heard a loud bang around 6 pm. But when they went to see what had happened, there was no car to be seen.
They did find the seriously injured PT, a 31-year-old Balenaar who was on a sandy road that ends at right angles to the road. Emergency services subsequently tried to resuscitate the victim on the spot, but the man died of his injuries.
The victim is a single man who himself lived not so far from the crash site. The blow must have been severe, because the fragments of the two-wheeler were spread over tens of meters.
Because the victim himself was in the side street, the police cannot rule out the possibility that the cyclist had entered the roadway of Breden Els from the sandy road and the motorist had not noticed him or noticed him too late. A traffic expert from the public prosecutor’s office came to investigate the situation.
The investigators have indications that the runaway car is a BMW. The motorist fled in the direction of Balen center. He is being tracked down.
