Covid increase: without alarm, Vizzotti calls to comply with the vaccine booster

The Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, acknowledged that the epidemiological situation in relation to the coronavirus was discussed at the meeting of the Federal Health Council (Cofesa), which has had a rebound in cases although it did not generate alerts.

Present at the meeting “the analysis of the situation in relation to Covid, the increase in the number of cases, which do not translate into hospitalizations and deaths thanks to vaccines, and the importance of reinforcements,” said Vizzotti.

“We have to stimulate boosters. We know we cannot eliminate the virus, immunity is not lifelong, the vaccine does not prevent 100% of infections and it is not even lifelong, so boosters need to be incorporated into life daily,” he added.

In this sense, it is addressed “to all people who have passed more than 120 days since the last dose and to those over 50 years of age, to those who are immunocompromised, to those with a condition at risk, to healthcare, security, advocacy and teachers”. , because “they are the ones who have the highest risk of exposure, of having complications and of dying”.

“We have less than 300 people hospitalized in intensive care, we have 8,000, so it is very important to support the epidemiological situation,” he stressed.

The covid “is a very dynamic situation in relation to the mutation of the virus and vaccination,” explained the minister. “We have the tool and the power to know that if we have up-to-date reinforcements, the increase in the number of cases will not translate into hospitalizations and deaths,” he stressed.

“If we fail to get the population vaccinated, especially those most at risk, hospitalizations will begin to increase and an increase in deaths will begin to be recorded”, warned Vizzotti, while specifying that “never as in the previous two years”.
