Covid-19: there are eight more deaths and 328 confirmed cases in Portugal | Coronavirus

Portugal on Thursday recorded eight more deaths from covid-19, an increase of 0.5%, with a total of 1587 fatalities in the country since the outbreak began. There are 328 more people infected, which corresponds to a growth rate of 0.77%, in a total of 42,782 confirmed cases.

Of the new cases, 273 were identified in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo – 83% of the total new ones infected.

The data appear in the epidemiological bulletin released this Thursday by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

There are 299 more recovered, meaning that, since March, 28,097 people have recovered from the disease. Excluding these cases and deaths, 13,098 active cases are currently registered in Portugal (21 more than on Wednesday).

Seven more people with covid-19 are hospitalized than the day before (out of a total of 510 hospitalized), but there are two fewer people in intensive care units (ICU) than on Wednesday, now accounting for 77 cases in UCI.

The overall lethality rate of covid-19 in Portugal is 3.7% and the lethality rate in patients over 70 years of age is 13.7%. Of the eight deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, two were identified in women between 40 and 59 years old. Fatal victims also include two men aged 70 to 79 and one man and three women over 80.

The region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley continues to be the one that has accumulated the largest number of cases since the outbreak began, having registered this Thursday another 273 infected people and five deaths. In total, the capital region has 19,656 confirmed cases and 480 fatalities due to covid-19. The North region, in turn, accounts for 17,624 infected people and 819 deaths – another 39 cases and no deaths compared to Wednesday’s data.

In the Center region – totaling 4,121 infected and 249 deaths – there was one more death in the last 24 hours, but no new cases of covid-19. In Alentejo, eight more cases and two deaths were registered (one of them in Reguengos de Monsaraz), bringing the total to 499 infected people and nine deaths.

The Algarve, in turn, registered seven more cases and no deaths this Thursday, in a total of 639 infected people and 15 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.
