Covarrubias celebrates Women’s Day with theater and literature

On the occasion of International Working Women’s Day, the Covarrubias City Council has scheduled for next weekend a theater performance and a book presentation that focus on the relationship between women and literature.

On Friday, March 12 from 7:00 p.m., in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall, the actress Eva Frade will stage the play ‘Ladies’, a set of texts by “peculiar women”, as the actress puts it, which recreates old and new stories that emerge from the pages of books and popular oral tradition. The public will enjoy fantastic narratives, humorous and nostalgia through a walk marked by authentic ladies of history and literature with a clear focus on the female universe.

On the other hand, on Saturday March 13, from 12:00 hours, in the Hall of the Town Hall the presentation of the books that the Town Hall and the Creative Women Collective (CMC) have donated to the library-archive project of the village of Rachela. Books whose protagonists or writers are women who have contributed a feminine and differentiating vision to history. A tour for a total of 21 books that will be presented individually by women, all of them members of the Collective of Creative Women of Castilla y León, with its president Cristina Izquierdo at the helm. The titles include ‘Pippi Longstocking’, ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’ or ‘Persepolis’ and authors such as Simone de Beauvoir or Virginia Woolf, as well as creations by male authors who have explored the female world from an equal footing, such as the Mafalda cartoons by the late Argentine author Joaquín Salvador Lavado, ‘Quino’.

Entrance to both events will be free until full capacity is reached.
