Traders hope that the Hamburg fish market will open without any conditions
Hamburg’s market traders and showmen hope with a view to the increasing corona easing that life will soon return to the fish market. “We hope, of course, that there will be movement because it is actually still considered a weekly market and therefore there is no need for drastic requirements,” said Wilfried Thal, President of the State Association of the Outpatient Trade and Showmen Hamburg, the German press Agency. However, with the hope that Thal and the dealers also associate the wish that the traditional market may open without conditions and at the regular time – i.e. 5 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. That is what makes the fish market. Starting in the morning is not an option. “Otherwise we will screw up our image,” said Thal. According to Thal, it has not yet been determined when the fish market can start again.

3,254 new infections reported nationwide – the incidence drops to 20.8
The health authorities in Germany reported 3,254 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. A week ago, the value was 4,917 infections. The RKI gave the seven-day incidence on Wednesday morning nationwide as 20.8 (previous day: 22.9; previous week: 36.8). Across Germany, 107 new deaths were recorded within 24 hours (previous week: 179). The number of people who died with or with the involvement of a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 is now given as 89,491. The nationwide seven-day R-value was 0.71 according to the RKI situation report from Tuesday afternoon (previous day: 0.76). This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 71 more people. The R-value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides; if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

New corona drug: too few participants for study
In Braunschweig, a company is currently developing a drug that will be used to treat Covid 19 patients. An efficacy study must be carried out so that the drug Covex-1-IMP can be approved. The problem: You need test subjects for the tests – and they are currently difficult to find in Braunschweig. There are currently only a few moderate to severe Covid-19 sufferers. And patients taking part in the clinical study are not allowed to be ventilated. According to the manufacturer, the drug has already been administered to patients in Stuttgart, Tübingen and Leipzig. The schedule for approval can thus be adhered to – it should be applied for in January 2022.
