The study was conducted in 6614 people who tested positive for the new corona antibody test last June-November, and 44 people were re-infected. This indicates that there is an 83% chance of being protected from reinfection by the antibody.
Susan Hopkins of PHE, who led the study, said, “Most people have been shown to retain antibodies after infection and are protected from reinfection, but they are not perfect and how long they actually last. “Unknown,” he warned that people infected in the first wave of the new corona epidemic early last year are at risk of re-infection. “There is still a risk of reinfection and infecting others,” he said cautiously.
