Corona crisis: Decathlon in Herne offers drive-in service

Herne.
The Decathlon branch in Herne offers a drive-in service. The aim is to get customers to their products quickly and without contact.

Decathlon now also offers a drive-in service. This should enable customers to get their products faster, the company says. To do this, the customer orders and pays online and picks up the package at the respective branch within the collection period.

During the current situation, for many companies nothing is as it used to be. After the spread of the virus had also led to massive restrictions at Decathlon and only the online shop was available to customers, it was time to rethink and start further measures, the company said.

Handover is contactless

In this situation, the sporting goods manufacturer and retailer wants to simplify access to sporting equipment. The offer has already been well received in the first two test branches in Ludwigshafen and Cologne. The service is now being expanded to other branches – including the one in Herne. The order was handed over without contact, and the package was placed in the trunk of the customer’s car by a Decathlon employee. The opening hours for the new drive-in service are from Monday to Friday, 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m.
