A man was taken from his home in Tilburg by a heavily armed arrest squad on Sunday evening. Earlier that evening, the police received signals that they would use violence, after which it was decided to arrest the man.
Other people were present at the Sint Annastraat home, presumably the man’s family, a police spokesman said. As a precaution, the area was cordoned off by the carabinieri and an ambulance was sent to the scene. No other house in the area had to be evacuated.
In total, the action lasted about an hour and a half. At around half past nine on Sunday evening, the arrest team managed to arrest the man. Nobody was hurt.
The police could not tell what the man threatened in connection with the investigation. The man is offered psychological help, after which it is decided whether the man will be arrested.
Police are investigating the matter further.
