Columbia – Near the coast in Australia, Marco Ureña found the longed-for confidence of the coach

Thousands of kilometers away, near the Sea of Tazmania and in a hot and humid environment, Ureña found the minutes. He hasn’t scored yet, but he plays frequently and his coach has faith in him: He wants him to be an example for young people.

Far from Costa Rica, more than 15,600 kilometers away, Marco Ureña settled. On Australia’s Central Coast, near the Tazman Sea, in a hot but humid region known as New Wales, the 30-year-old striker found what, perhaps, he needed most: the confidence of the coach.

After his stay in the League, Ureña left for South Korea, but played very little. Faced with the shortage of minutes and after ending his link, he chose to jump to Oceania.

He was opened by the Mariners team, a team founded in 2004, when the A-League, Australia’s professional soccer tournament, was created.

Ureña’s team is staying in Gosford, a small town that is adopting a professional team for the first time.

Despite the recent creation of the tournament, the Australian league stood out before the pandemic for the good assists in the stadiums, even when the main sport is rugby (the Mariners stadium is also rugby)

In an eight-team competition, the Ureña club is the protagonist; they have won the league twice since 2004 and consistently qualify for the tournament’s finals.

In the current campaign he leads the standings, with Ureña present in most of this year’s commitments.

Although he has not yet scored, the national already adds assists to goal (in the video you can see the pass to goal) and has played six commitments, four of them as a starter.

After a long period without playing in South Korea, it seems that the Tico found consistency in Australia.

Near the beach, in a quiet environment and in a small town, Ureña seeks sporting balance.

According to the Australian media, the Costa Rican striker arrived with high expectations. He is expected to contribute goals and assists, but also to contribute to the growth of the club’s youth.

“Ureña brings great experience and goalscoring pedigree, even at the World Cup level, and we are eager to see what he can do in the A-League,” said the club’s strategist, Alen Stajcic, who also highlighted the shooting of the footballer.

For now, Ureña finds in Australia what cost him so much in his other international endeavors: Accumulate minutes and be consistent.

Far from Costa Rica, the soccer player wants to establish himself again.
