Church – Freiburg im Breisgau – Churches can celebrate face-to-face services at Easter – Panorama

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – After the government has given in, the Christians in Baden-Württemberg can now celebrate face-to-face services at Easter. The Archbishop of Freiburg, Stephan Burger, reacted with relief on Thursday. In a letter to the Catholic parishes, he wrote that Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) had approached the churches. Kretschmann trusts them to continue “in a tried and tested and therefore responsible manner on the path they have chosen so far” with strict hygiene concepts in the church services.

The federal and state governments originally decided to ask the churches to only offer services online. This led to protests. The spokesman for the Evangelical Church in Württemberg, Oliver Hoesch, told the “Heilbronner Voice” that many parishes also offer digital church services for Good Friday and Easter, as was the case at Christmas.
