Cell complex in Groningen closed, 40 employees in quarantine | NOW

The Hooghoudt police cell complex in Groningen has been closed after at least four employees tested positive for the corona virus this week, the police reported on Thursday. At least 40 employees have been quarantined. All detainees have already been transferred to other detention centers on Wednesday evening.

A number of employees are still awaiting the test result. The GGD Groningen has started a source and contact investigation. The detention center will remain closed until further notice.

A police spokesman says there is no indication that detainees have been infected. If they receive complaints, they will be tested just like the employees, he says.

The police cannot say how many detainees were detained in Hooghoudt. The complex has a total of fifty cells.
