Carlos Vives Celebrates 30-Year Career with US Concert Tour

The Colombian singer Carlos Vives has tried to remain “genuine” and “authentic” throughout his 30-year career, a milestone that he will celebrate with a concert tour that starting this Saturday will take his “happy music” throughout United States, according to what he said on Wednesday.

“I wanted to be Colombian but modern, my dreams have been there,” Vives said at a press conference offered in Miami on the occasion of the US leg of “The 30’s Tour,” which will start in New York and cover nine dates.

The singer of “My Bicycle” promised to share with the American public “the joy of our music”, which he composes to “serve the people” and assuming the role of “educator” that, in his opinion, successful singers should have .

“After so much time, I value the message more and more,” said the interpreter, who defended that his music, which is the same music he loved since childhood, “can be heard by the child with the grandfather.”

“After 30 years I understood that I had to return home. The music I make today is connected to that feeling of being a child and feeling protected as a child,” he deepened.

The tour, which will culminate in Los Angeles on November 5, comes after the singer published this year “Escalona: It had never been recorded like this”, a tribute to his compatriot Rafael Escalona, who is one of the most prominent exponents of of vallenato, the genre that elevated Vives.

The press conference also served to announce the alliance between the interpreter and Goya Cares, an initiative of the Goya Foods company created in 2021 to combat child trafficking in the world, an “epidemic” that affects one in three children in United States, as Marisela Paéz, public relations officer for Goya Foods, pointed out at the press conference.

“Together we will forge a beacon of hope in this global fight,” said Bob Unanue, president and CEO of Goya Foods, who highlighted the importance of Colombian participation in the humanitarian initiative.

At the end of the press conference, Unanue gave Vives a donation of 30,000 dollars in favor of Tras la Perla, the singer’s organization in favor of the children of Santa Marta, in Colombia.
