“I am going through the best moment of my professional life. Everything is ready to begin the production of the film Juana Azurdy, in Bolivian locations ”, she advances from Los Angeles, where she fulfills other work commitments in record time to return to Bolivia.

A Bolivian heroine

Carla describes herself as a woman of mettle, determined and who does not give up in the face of adversity. For this reason, he admires Juana Azurduy de Padilla, one of the heroines of the Bolivian War of Independence, and considers it an honor to interpret her.

He says that it will be a mixture of a historical film in which Doña Juana will show “what wood are Bolivian women made of”.

“It is wood of the good, of the unshakable”, Carla mentions.

The recordings will be made in Sucre, in its cobbled streets, its mansions and colonial convents. They will also film in some provinces of Chuquisaca.

To her surprise, the story identifies similarities in the build and size of the heroine and her, so the makeup and costumes will take care of the magic of the transformation.

A life for cameras

The cinematographic beginnings of Carla were in Bolivia and the role that consecrated her was that of Miskki Simi, the one with the sweet lips, a woman in a skirt who conquers a young man from the town, in the film Los Andes do not believe in God.

With perseverance and effort, he obtained supporting roles in Mexican and Venezuelan soap operas and later in Hollywood, where he recognizes that the competition is quite tough.

His résumé in the mecca of cinema includes titles such as the series Guardians of the Bay, CSI Miami, The Closer and the movie The Wedding Chapel. He also worked in the films Curse of the Mayans, Black limousine, El Desorejado, Che Guevara, Beautiful Sadness, among others.

Four years ago he carried out one of the most risky jobs of his life, when he went to Syria, in the middle of the armed conflict, to produce a documentary in which he shows the hardships and injustices that these people are experiencing.

This work is already finished and it only remains to coordinate how the presentation will be and then the dissemination.

Despite the criticism she received, many of the same Bolivians, it is a job that has her excited.

Commitment to your country

In 2011 he created a social institution that bears his name. And it is that he believes that artists should use their fame to serve humanity, to which, in addition, they owe what they have.

With its foundation, it has been in places of disasters, such as the forest fires in Chiquitania, in 2018, and, recently, in the fight against coronavirus in low-income populations.

“When I started my career, I promised that if I became a successful actress, I would make everything I get available to people in need,” she says. And he is in that plan, although he considers that he still has a lot to receive and a lot to give.
