Brussels Airlines relaunches its flights to holiday destinations and North America

In addition to 18 intercontinental destinations in Africa and North America, Brussels Airlines plans to operate 60 short and medium-haul routes during the coming summer season, with a focus on key holiday destinations such as Greece, Portugal and Spain.

LWith demand for tourist travel expected to increase as the summer months approach, Brussels Airlines has decided to gradually relaunch its flights to holiday destinations between April and June, the airline announced on Wednesday. North America will follow from mid-June.

In addition to 18 intercontinental destinations in Africa and North America, Brussels Airlines plans to operate 60 short and medium-haul routes during the coming summer season, with a focus on key holiday destinations such as Greece, Portugal and Spain.

If the African network of the Belgian company is currently almost entirely served, capacity is however more restricted in Europe, limited to feeder flights for flights to Africa.

In mid-June, Washington DC, New York and Montreal are expected to reopen. These will be Brussels Airlines’ first transatlantic flights since March 21.

The African network will reach its peak at the same time. From June 14, West African destinations, namely Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Accra (Ghana), Banjul (Gambia) and Dakar (Senegal), will be offered daily. In central and eastern Africa, Douala and Yaoundé (Cameroon), Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Entebbe (Uganda) are also scheduled daily. Luanda (Angola) will join the network after more than a year of absence.

Compared to today, the weekly frequencies on the long-haul network will triple, summarizes Brussels Airlines.

Finally, the carrier will add Frankfurt as a new destination on August 2, a link currently provided by Lufthansa.

The company warns that the coronavirus could still cause changes, but ensures it will remain flexible. “All Brussels Airlines fares can be changed free of charge and as often as desired until the end of May 2021. After this date, a new reservation can be made free of charge. “
