NEW YORK – A traffic stop in upstate New York culminated in the arrest of a Bronx woman on charges that she hid more than a pound of cocaine in her baby’s diaper bag.
New York State Police said 33-year-old Shante Pleasant was pulled over Tuesday on I-87 in Coxsackie for a traffic violation. She had two daughters with her in the car: a 13-year-old and a 7-month-old.
Agents determined that Pleasant did not have a valid driver’s license. While conducting an inventory before towing his car, they found 25 ounces of cocaine in the baby’s diaper bag.
Pleasant now faces multiple controlled substance and child welfare charges and was taken into custody. His children were given to a relative.
