“We prepared these concrete blocks in case the Estonian government decides to follow the example of neighboring countries and restrict entry into the country from the Russian Federation in order to limit the flow of illegal migration,” Mareks Līva, head of the Narva border point, told the newspaper “Postimees”. “Since the Ivangorod border crossing will be closed for repairs from February 1, concrete blocks will limit the movement of road transport on the bridge during this period.”

On Thursday evening, the head of the Border Guard Department of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Department, Veiko Kommusārs, admitted to the “Rus.Postimees” portal that the border points with Russia could be closed “fully or partially”.

Finland reportedly announced this week that it will close half of its border crossings with Russia due to the increase in the number of illegal immigrants.

Recently, Russia has turned illegal migration as a hybrid weapon against Finland and Estonia, similar to how Belarus has been using it against Latvia, Lithuania and Poland for a long time.
