Boeing kicks off tests of controversial 737 Max

Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States began test flights on Monday of its controversial 737 Max model to demonstrate that it can now fly safely with the new flight control software.

The flights began Monday and will last for three days, according to an FAA statement, which explained that the first aircraft took off from the Boeing airfield in Seattle at 9:55 local time and was scheduled to last for several hours.

These flights will represent an important step in the company’s effort to get its best-selling aircraft back in the air.

The Max was penalized in March 2019 after a couple of fatal accidents, in Indonesia and Ethiopia, which killed 346 people.

This crisis has cost Boeing billions of dollars, including compensation to be paid to victims and airlines.

It also led to the removal of the company’s chief executive, leaving the solvency of the company in question, and the supervisor due to the rush to build and approve the Max.
