Boa Unions Announce Actions | Inland

The unions want Rotterdam boas to be equipped with a baton and pepper spray, because they are increasingly confronted with aggression and violence because of the corona emergency ordinance. The alderman does not want to comply with this and asked them to look for alternative means. On Monday he announced what measures he is prepared to take. The unions say that “95 percent of our members reject it as insufficient.”

Going out with a police dog and pairing up with the police find the unions good alternatives, but they are skeptical about their feasibility. “We therefore unfortunately conclude that you do not offer a solution for the first minutes that the boas are at risk and the police are on the way.”

It is not yet known what the announced actions entail. However, this will start next week, if the triangle of mayor, police and justice does not take any decisions to accommodate the unions in the meantime. The spokesman for alderman Wijbenga says that the proposal has previously gone to the triangle and that it will also be discussed there. “We’ll wait for that.”
