According to the current status of the investigation, the facts are now as follows:

On Friday evening, March 25th, 2022, around 8 p.m., a couple first noticed a rattling of windows in their residential property and then left their house together to look for the origin of the noise.

After the perpetrator was initially able to flee undetected, a large-scale manhunt was launched in which a police helicopter and tracking dogs were deployed that night.

Extensive investigations led to the identification of the urgent suspect, for whom the Freiburg district court ordered a public search with a photograph the following day.

The urgent suspect was then arrested without resistance on March 26th, 2022, around 10 p.m. by police forces in the area of Eichstetten train station.

Because of this act, the Freiburg district court issued an arrest warrant at the request of the Freiburg public prosecutor’s office on March 25th, 2022. The arrest warrant could not initially be executed because the suspect fled and had no permanent residence.
