Today, Friday, March 18, 2022, at around 6:15 p.m., there was a serious traffic accident on Landesstraße 128, Sankt Märgen district.
According to initial findings, a 50-year-old car driver drove on Landesstraße 128 coming from the B 500 in the direction of Sankt Märgen. About a kilometer before entering St. Märgen, the car driver encountered oncoming traffic in a right-hand curve and collided with an oncoming bus at that moment.
The driver of the car was fatally injured in the collision. His passenger had to be taken to a clinic by rescue helicopter due to life-threatening injuries.
There were 48 passengers in the coach, which was used as a replacement rail service for the closed Höllentalbahn – twelve of them were injured so badly that they had to be taken to nearby hospitals.
The municipality of St. Märgen provided the Black Forest Hall to look after the other bus passengers. A large contingent of rescue workers from all over the surrounding area was called up to look after these people, as well as road users who were stuck in traffic accident recording.
The Freiburg traffic police have started investigating the accident.
