Blood donation: An agreement signed between the CNTS and a private structure

The National Blood Transfusion Center (Cnts) and Innovative healthcare solution (Ihs) signed a partnership agreement on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the Cnts conference room, in Treichville. This agreement aims, according to the Director General of Ihs, Dodié Diagaunet, a company specializing in the search for innovative solutions to resolve challenges in the health sector, to help the Cnts to put in place coordinated strategies to raise awareness of blood donation. throughout the national territory, have traceability of blood products that will make the distribution circuit more transparent, create a donor retention system that will increase the number of regular donors and have an optimal stock management system blood products.

In practice, he explained that it will be a question of defining a strategy which will consist in setting up a project team. This will take stock of the supply of blood in the various public and private health structures in the country. Then write a project with several components that will lead to a platform that goes from the donor to the distribution.

The director of the CNTS, Dr Konaté Séidou, welcomed the partnership which, according to him, will help his center to fill this annual deficit of 100,000 bags of blood. “We have an annual need for 250,000 bags of blood. Yet we are at 160,000 pockets. This deficit of 100,000 must be filled for the happiness of the populations. This agreement is therefore timely to help the center meet its needs, ”he said.

The general mission of the CNTS is to organize blood transfusion, establish the quality assurance system, ensure quality control and ensure the safety of blood products and their derivatives.

The age for donating blood varies between 18 and 60 years. Family donation, replacement donation, paid donation and voluntary donation are the four main systems of donation. Côte d’Ivoire has adopted the voluntary system, a sign of solidarity.
