Be careful if you plan to update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13.4. The update deployed today retains a bug spotted in the Golden Master which sometimes leads to overconsumption of mobile data.

Despite several Beta versions and increasingly rigorous testing phases, Apple would not have succeeded in correcting all the bugs within iOS 13.4 which will be released today. A particularly annoying bug concerns the network chip which activates automatically without user request.
The chip activated in the background would then have the annoying tendency to overconsume mobile data by tapping into the user’s data envelope. This situation can be problematic for plans with little data or more generally during this period of confinement: many users take advantage of 4G sharing to speed up their downloads or be able to telecommute in good conditions.
The problem has been spotted on some iPhones, especially from version X and above. According to Forbes, the overconsumption is quite significant: several GB per hour. And this overconsumption of mobile data is also accompanied by another perverse effect: the exhaustion of the autonomy of the device.
