Achraf Hakimi can’t wait to make his debut together Inter Milan. He wanted to prove that Antonio Conte was not wrong to sign him.
Hakimi is Inter’s first purchase this summer, having been signed from Real Madrid with a tag of 40 million euros. Prices that are considered worthy of seeing Hakimi’s performance with Borussia Dortmund.
During the last two seasons, Hakimi was indeed on loan at Dortmund and developed as one of Europe’s best right-backs. Last season, Hakimi made five goals and 10 assists, the most of any Bundesliga defender.
In total, Hakimi made 12 goals and 17 assists in 74 appearances during his two seasons at Dortmund. So it is only natural that Inter dare to pay dearly for Hakimi, despite Madrid’s “exile” status.
For Hakimi, Conte was the main reason why he finally accepted Inter’s proposal. With Conte’s penchant for using a 3-5-2 formation, then Hakimi would be a perfect fit for the right wing-back, a role he also played at Dortmund.
“I chose Inter because I think the coach’s style matches my style of play and I will really help this team,” said Hakimi in a question and answer session on Inter’s social media.
“We will try to achieve good results and of course win the Scudetto,” continued the player from Morocco.
“Conte is a great coach, with a competitive spirit. He has an extraordinary passion for football and is able to pass this on to the players, fans and everyone at the club. His motivation always powers the team every game.
“I am used to playing 3-5-2 at Borussia Dortmund. When the offer came, I think this is a good opportunity for me to develop, because the fans are very special. I joined a great club,” concluded Achraf Hakimi.
