Driving and Corona Virus: This is important to ensure that your own car does not become a virus trap and you are not infected.
As the virus remains contagious on materials such as plastic, glass or metal for up to six days, parts such as the steering wheel, door handles, gear lever and fittings should be cleaned as a precaution. Normal hand soap or dishwashing detergent are enough, like washing your hands: they destroy the viruses. If you also want to use disinfectants, you should first check the material to be treated for compatibility at a hidden location.
Hands off!
It is bad advice to set the air conditioning system to recirculating air: the air recirculation system sucks germs out of the interior and throws them back into them. So steer clear of the air recirculation switch and get in with the fresh air – the windows should currently be kept closed out of consideration for the other road users.
Since the public transport should not be used, car sharing services are currently in demand. The providers are aware of the danger: They are currently cleaning their vehicles particularly intensively and cleaning them with disinfectants.
Whether in your own car or in a rented car, the instructions also apply when driving: stay at home whenever possible, wash your hands often and thoroughly, do not touch your face and keep your distance from other people. And keeping a good distance is an important motto in traffic anyway.
