Frankfurt / Main (AP) – The footballers of defending champion VfL Wolfsburg meet in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup in a home game on SC Sand.
This was the result of the draw with the former Wolfsburg national player Verena Schweers and national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg. The German champions FC Bayern Munich have to play away at FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
Furthermore, SGS Essen and Bayer Leverkusen as well as SV Henstedt-Ulzburg as the last remaining second division and Turbine Potsdam meet. The quarter-finals are scheduled for March 1st and 2nd, the semi-finals for April 17th and 18th. The final will take place on May 28th in Cologne.
Coach Tommy Stroot’s Wolfsburg team won 3-0 in the round of 16 against Bundesliga rivals SC Freiburg. This year’s cup finalist Eintracht Frankfurt (2: 3 at Bayern Munich) and Champions League participant TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are no longer there after being eliminated on penalties at Bayer Leverkusen.
