Avianca executives recognize the importance of the El Salvador hub and its plans for new routes

El Salvador is the second most important connection center within the operations of the Colombian Avianca Airlines and they plan through this hub to establish new routes during 2020 as part of the growth plans in the continent. This was recognized on Wednesday by its main executives during a meeting with international journalists in Bogotá, in the framework of the celebration of its 100 years.

“In the operational plan for 2020 we are going to focus a lot on the hub of Bogotá, also on the hub of El Salvador, that of Ecuador and still a large part in Peru,” said Anko van der Werff, CEO of Avianca, recognize that “El Salvador is still the second largest hub for us and is very important.”

The chief executive of Avianca said that now the growth of the airline is driven by much certainty and optimism in the future.

“The truth is that the financial situation of the company changed 180 degrees. Now we are very certain for the future; we look at the future, the truth, with much optimism, enthusiasm and it is also seen in all the numbers, already much better ”, and that according to van der Werff they place Avianca in a privileged position in the aeronautical industry.

“We are now among the first 15 airlines in the world, which is obviously important for all customers. That is something that we improve during 2019, we achieve it by improving month by month, ”said the executive.

El Salvador an efficient part in Avianca operations

When listing the contribution of its connection center in El Salvador, Silvia Mosquera, commercial manager of Avianca, points out that it is the efficiency and geographical position of the key country to trace new routes mainly to connect with North America.

“El Salvador is a hub that works super efficient, because it has a connection time of 30 minutes and a geographical position as Anko said, ideal for connecting with North America. We have a very good punctuality in El Salvador, above 90% …, and today we have 24 routes from El Salvador, but we are analyzing and we would like to announce new routes from El Salvador this year, ”said Mosquera.
