Austria – Salzburg prepares triage – politics

In the Austrian state of Salzburg there is a risk of overloading the intensive care units due to the rapidly increasing number of corona patients. A six-person triage team has now been set up that, in an emergency, has to decide which patients can still be treated in intensive care, said a spokesman for the Salzburg state clinics on Tuesday. “It’s a dramatic situation, but we’re not there yet,” he said of a possible triage. Salzburg currently has more than 1,500 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – this is the highest incidence among the Austrian federal states. A nationwide lockdown for unvaccinated people has been in effect since Monday.
