Army: Coronavirus: 250 soldiers did not respond to mobilization – Switzerland

Currently, nearly 5,000 soldiers are mobilized in support service in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic in Switzerland. As a first step, 800 soldiers were mobilized. On March 16, the Federal Council decided to partially demolish 4,500 men in the health, police and customs services. Then he raised the ceiling to 8,000 men until the end of June.

48 hours to mobilize

But this sudden mobilization did not only cause enthusiasts. The daily “Blick” reveals that 250 soldiers have not responded to their marching orders so far. According to the procedure, the soldiers are warned of their mobilization by an SMS showing the place of engagement, the date and the time and instructions to acknowledge receipt of the message. A written market order is sent later.

Military justice

Most soldiers have 48 hours to turn around. In addition, advance information is sent at least 24 hours before mobilization. The 250 who did not follow the marching orders obviously risk sanctions: “If the members of the army cannot give good reasons, their files will be handed over to the military justice”, specifies “Blick”.
