April 2 is International Fact-Checking Day

The purpose of the International Fact-Checking Day is to involve society in the development of critical thinking, to raise awareness of the existence of false and erroneous information.

The day has become especially relevant in the age of the Internet and social networks, where misinformation spreads quickly. Celebrating this day contributes to the formation of critical thinking and the development of fact-checking skills among young people.

International Fact-Checking Day is a reminder of the importance of checking information before sharing it.

This day also supports initiatives that fight fake news and try to ensure access to true and objective information.

The International Fact-Checking Day is a symbol of the struggle for truth and against the manipulation of consciousness. It becomes an important stage in the formation of critical thinking in modern society and emphasizes the importance of the reliability of information in our lives.

Fact-Checking Day is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the threats posed by disinformation, foreign information manipulation and interference, and to provide citizens with the tools to build their own resilience against such attacks.

A few weeks ago, on the Diya.Osvita platform, a new civic education product was created, namely: an educational series about media literacy.

“How to protect yourself from fakes and misinformation” – these are 10 series, where host Svyatoslav Grynchuk together with well-known expert guests discuss media literacy topics, share knowledge on countering fakes and disinformation, personal data protection, and provide advice on Internet security.

The new educational series provides viewers with practical media and information literacy skills that should become a part of their lives, especially in an all-out war where truthful information saves lives. The series also explains how to navigate the information around you, how to recognize and respond to misinformation and propaganda.

The series is available for viewing on Action. Education.

For reference

The educational series was created for the Diya.Osvita platform as part of the “Comprehensive information and educational campaign to counter disinformation”, which is being implemented by 1+1 media and Smart Angel in cooperation with expert organizations with the financial support of the European Union.
