Apple Starts Raid Old Apps on App Store

Jakarta

Apple called start deleting old apps in App Store which is already getting an update. Apple’s action is known from the complaints of a number of developers whose applications are victims.

The developers received a notification in the form of an email from Apple entitled ‘App Improvement Notice’, which contained a warning that Apple would remove applications from the App Store that had not been updated for a significant period of time, and developers were given 30 days to update their applications. that.

“You can keep this app available for new users to download and discover on the App Store by submitting an update for review within 30 days,” Apple wrote in the email.

“If no updates are submitted for review within 30 days, the app will be removed from sale,” Apple added.

However, applications that have been downloaded by the user will not be affected and will still be able to be used on the user’s device. Apple’s move will only impact users who haven’t downloaded the app.

A number of developers have complained about Apple’s action, one of which is Robert Kabwe, who is behind Protopop Games, the maker of the Motivoto game. In his complaint on the Twitter account @protopop, he compared games on the App Store with games on consoles that still exist even though they are old school.

“This is not fun. Console games from (year) 2000 are still available for purchase. This is an unfair obstacle for indie developers,” he lamented.

Meanwhile, Apple has another statement on its App Store Improvements page. On that page they say they are implementing an application evaluation process. That is, to assess whether the application is no longer functioning according to its original purpose, does not follow the latest rules, or is outdated, it will be deleted.
