Annamária didn’t even have sneakers, now she is the champion of Slovakia

Annamaria grows up in miserable conditions with six other siblings, but that does not prevent her from further developing her talent. “I am proud and proud of her that she has a gold medal. She received a pizza as a reward, “her mother Izabela (38) told the daily Nový čas.

“Annamaria is an athlete in body and soul,” she added proudly. The family receives social benefits in the amount of 340 euros (8700 crowns) per month. “I try to make it all happy. We have a hard life, but I’m not complaining, “she said.

She didn’t give up

The girl drew attention to herself three years ago when she came to the race, even though she only ran in ballerinas without socks.

Many doubted that Annamaria would stay in the sport, but she did not give up. The local leisure center Cvrček provided her with a coach. The young girl does not know after whom she inherited running talent and endurance. “I run often and I like it. I’m happy when I improve my personal records, “he says. “I enjoy it, and when I win, I feel even better. Otherwise, I like to bake and I may be a confectioner, “she added.

Her story fascinated the whole of Slovakia and already at the beginning of the school year 2018/2019 she received a gift of new sports shoes so that she could further develop her talent. Coach Norbert Pecze, nephew of the famous football coach Karol Pecze, offered his services to the young girl. The coach admits that at the time of the pandemic it was difficult with the training, because the settlement was closed due to the occurrence of covid-19. Annamária replaced the training outage and finished fourth in the races in Šamorín, where she competed among women. “He also surpasses his own personalities,” adds Pecze.

At school, some children look at classmates from the settlement through their fingers, but Annamária is proof that when they work with these children, they can succeed. “Even though she comes from a socially disadvantaged background, she managed to capture her and lead her in such a way as to develop her talent,” said Szitás Nagy, Deputy Head of School. “We are all excited about the success it is achieving,” she said.
