– The most important thing I have learned from my character in this film is that it is an unwise thing to try to kill his wife, laughs Hennie.

Raw script

When film director Tommy Wirkola contacted Hennie about the film, he was quickly sold:

– It was one of the coolest scripts I have ever read. From side one, it’s everything from ping-pong dialogue to lots of violence and chaos. It is a script that contains everything, the 45-year-old brags.

To Good evening Norway, he says that the characters in the film blame each other for their defeat, have gained low self-esteem and have ended up being a bad version of themselves together.

– I think this is a universal issue that most people can relate to – me too, he says.

To find the inspiration to play the character “Lars”, it is for Hennie to be able to understand the minds of others.

As an actor, he also draws some inspiration from what he himself has experienced, but this character is a little different:

– You get inspiration in general in life, and relationships are a part of life. But I never thought I would kill someone I’ve been with, laughs Hennie.

Unobtrusive and unique

The 45-year-old has met her co-star, Swedish Noomi Rapace, several times and has long wanted to work with her.

He could not say no to the role when he was told that Rapace would work with him in the lead roles.

– Noomi is a fantastic actress. She is boundless, thorough and skilled, says Hennie.

He explains that they had fun working together and describes her as an unassuming and fearless person.

– When you have worked a little internationally, it is unique. There are often things you can not do or say, while Noomi is like: “Fuck it, I’m in everything!”

A kickstarter for the cinema

Hennie got the script when the corona pandemic was at its worst and several were stressed about when they could be allowed to work again. The actor was grateful when there was a clear signal for “In bad days”:

– This film came as a happy break for me just when it was about to settle down properly. suddenly I was allowed to work again, he says.

Hennie looked forward to diving into a film with content that was both wrong, fun and inviting.

He himself hopes that the film will mean something extra to people after a long and strange time of restrictions, and that it will offer a wonderful film experience again:

– The film is written to kickstart the cinema again. We need it. We have been good at shit for almost two years where most of us have followed the restrictions, he emphasizes.

He hopes the film can get everyone out of “hibernation” and laugh again:

– We have not met other people, we have not experienced culture with others – now is the time, says Hennie.

– Magical and different

The 45-year-old claims that he has been lucky during the corona and that he has been allowed to work during almost the entire pandemic, which he is very grateful for.

He thinks there are several others who have been more unlucky than him, and in order to be allowed to complete the film, they had to have several restrictions on the film set.

Among other things, employees on sets had to check how many they could be on the recording and wash objects that Hennie had touched.

– I stand there as a little kid who supplies me with something that others work enormously with to keep it within the restrictions.

Hennie felt that he was well taken care of and got to feel a little on a normal everyday life during the recording as he could not wear a face mask, among other things:

– The everyday is experienced magically and differently. It’s a feeling I’m going to take with me. One should be enormously grateful for the ordinary one has, because it does not take long before it is abnormal and impossible, he emphasizes.

Father of three

In December last year, Hennie shared on Instagram that he had become a father of three. The actor has two children with his wife Karoline Hegbom and a child from a previous relationship.

Hennie and Hegbom got married in September 2019.

Although he is busy with several film projects, he manages to combine the job with family.

– It’s like all other professions. There is nothing more difficult for me than an electrician or store employee, he says, adding:

– Our time is just as valuable and just as difficult to maneuver, but we try to use the valuable time we have on the people who are valuable to us.
