Biggest star in gymnastics, Simone Biles will also not compete in the individual events of uneven bars and jumping. The information was made official by the American gymnastics team on Twitter this Friday night (already Saturday morning in Tokyo). Decisions, once again, were taken after medical evaluations in which the athlete chose to take care of her emotional well-being.

“After further consultation with the medical team, Simone Biles has decided to withdraw from the event finals for jumping and irregular bars. She will continue to be evaluated daily to determine if she will compete in the finals for ground and balance beam exercises.”

The 24-year-old gymnast had already dropped out of the all-around final, in which the Brazilian Rebeca Andrade got the silver, and, before, retired from the final by teams, in which the United States came in second. She committed failures in the landing of the ground and chose not to continue in the dispute (watch below).

Simone was the big favorite for the jump, a race in which Rebeca Andrade is also a finalist and has good chances for a medal. Biles was the Olympic all-around champion at Rio 2016, in which she also won the gold for teams, in the jump and on the ground, as well as the bronze on the crossbar.

Rebeca got the third highest score in the qualifiers. With the withdrawal of Simone Biles, therefore, the Brazilian is now the second largest, only behind Jade Carey.

American MyKayla Skinner, who had the fourth highest score in qualifying, will replace her. She had not entered the finals because Simone had the highest grade and Jade Carey had the second, and there are only two athletes from each country among the eight finalists.
