Against Covid-19, Indonesia Immediately Uses Pfizer Vaccine

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Another vaccine that will receive emergency use authorization (EUA) from the POM is Pfizer. Thus adding another vaccine that already pocketed the EUA from the previous BPOM.

The Head of the POM Agency, Penny Lukito, explained in a Working Meeting with Commission IX of the DPR, that Pfizer has 6 production facilities. To date complete data is available at 2-3 production facilities and this is what the EUA will issue soon.

“In the process of Pfizer going out. Even though Pfizer is in various production centers, there are 6 production facilities, complete data in 2-3 production facilities, as soon as possible first, complete quality data will immediately issue emergency use authorization,”
said Penny, Tuesday (13/7/2021).

If Pfizer obtains the EUA, it will add to the list of other vaccines that pocket other licenses. There are Sinovac CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, Bio Farma, Sinopaharm and Moderna.

Moderna is the last name to be granted an emergency use permit. BPOM gave EUA to Moderna in early July with 94% efficacy.

Moderna itself has arrived in Indonesia on Sunday (11/7/2021). The vaccine arrived with a total of 3 million doses through the Covax mechanism initiated by WHO.

“Thank God, Indonesia has received 3,0600 Moderna vaccines, supported by the US government from the Covax Facility multilateral channel,” said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, when receiving the arrival of the Moderna vaccine.

The number of 3 million doses is the first phase of a total of 4.5 million doses to come in Indonesia. One of those who will receive this vaccine is health workers.

For health workers, Moderna is the third injection after they previously received two vaccinations from Sinovac at the beginning of the government program.

“In addition to the first and second injections for the people, we will use this special vaccine for the third booster for Indonesian health workers,” said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
