You had big financial problems before the covid. How did you survive?
“Yes, that was one of the reasons why I couldn’t wait for the theaters to open and find a job in another field. I needed to pay off insolvency. I had a trial, and those many millions became a manageable debt that I paid. One of the conditions, however, was that I had to have a job, otherwise they wouldn’t give it to me. I put the acting earnings I had left in that lockdown, and exactly when he started, I had a repayment obligation. That’s why I had to deal with it. In addition, I am single and have two children at home. “

How did you manage to sleep peacefully at such a moment?
“Little girl, it was terrible. I didn’t want to be at all. It’s hard for me to talk about it. It’s like a typhoon beating you, but you can’t give up! And things haven’t been nearly as horrible to me as other people. It was not out of bad intentions, but rather out of stupidity and anticipation of something that did not come. Everything happens in life. It is important to have an inner clear conscience. And I have it. Anyone who is convinced that I borrowed for some evil intention will not change his mind anyway. There is no point in trying. The main thing is to forgive yourself and not repeat the same mistakes. There is nothing else. “
Do you have any idea when you will repay the amount due, which is 4,777,113 crowns?
“Yeah, I’m insolvent, I’m paying off the debt, I acknowledged it, and in three years I should be in debt. The amount is already manageable – it’s already under a million. “

You borrowed a lot of money from colleagues. Did insolvency complicate your work in the theater?
“Of course. I used to be the star of the Municipal Theaters of Prague, but there are always people who envy you, and if you have problems, they will let you eat it. At that moment, all that remains is to withdraw, admit your mistake and move on. It was cruel and hard. Next year I would play there for thirty years in huge roles, I played there almost daily, but another bunch of people came and it’s a thing of the past. “
Am I to understand that you ended up there and have an engagement somewhere else?
“More precisely, nowhere. For a long time I was a self-employed person and with the former boss Ondřej Zajíc and Petr Svojtka we made a contract that I have priority there, and I mainly played there. I was guaranteed two big roles every year, which is now falling. So I’m still finishing up Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf and the show Father, the rest has withdrawn. But I caught my breath – with Misha Valley now we are preparing a wonderful thing about five aging prostitutes and we start rehearsing it under the direction of Petr Svojtka in September. I’m really looking forward to it. “
Aren’t you uncomfortable playing those roles when you’re no longer welcome there?
“No, because there are people in those shows who know me and my situation. They are my friends and they helped me terribly mentally because they were behind me. On the contrary. I’m so glad to see them. But I understand. There is another boss in the Municipal Theaters of Prague, there is a new management and they had to stand up to it somehow. I don’t blame anyone, I don’t hate myself and the older I get, the more I forgive. And to myself. “
And did you manage to forgive your exponent, director Petr Kracik, who left you because of Tereza Kostková?
“It simply came to our notice then. I forgave myself to Peter, but I still can’t forgive his children. Once someone makes them, they should give them something, raise them, and devote themselves to them. Actually, I don’t get it. I don’t understand why he had children with other women and obviously he doesn’t pay much attention to them either. I’m so sorry, because our children expected him to take an interest in them. And it went so far that when they grew up and realized that it wasn’t, they stood up to it. I persuaded them to call him, but they told me – Mom, and why? They don’t want to be with him. “

Did he try to help you at least financially?
“It simply came to our notice then. Only now did he give me back at least my furniture, thanks to my daughter we were able to take it away. I thought that when people have lived a part of their life together, they are happy when the other is happy. But it occurred to me that Petr is actually happy when we fail. I can’t see his head, but I really didn’t get it. Not even Tereza, who smeared him when we were living a happy life. Eliška had just been born and she made it so terribly unhappy. We learned about their wedding from Blesk. His classmates at school told Kryštof, so he came home lamenting about what was happening. No one told us in advance, and we were a normal family. It’s everyone’s conscience and I don’t want to go back to that. “
