Actor John Saxon, famous for Endless Nightmare, has died – Cinema and Tv – Culture


Actor John Saxon died of complications from pneumonia at the age of 83. Of Italian descent, the performer moved through all film genres, but achieved great recognition in the police, horror and in martial arts classic ‘Operation Dragon’, alongside Bruce Lee.

Precisely, in that 1973 production, Saxon played the role of Rope, a man who ends up caught in a deadly competition allied with Lee. That movie made him a movie star around the world.

He worked alongside Marlon Brando in ‘The Appaloosa’ (1966) and won a Golden Globe. He also shared with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda in ‘The Electric Horseman’.

Added to an interesting stage in Italy on suspense and crime films. One of the productions that most caught the attention of those times was ‘Tenebrae’, by director Dario Argento.

He was also part of the drama series ‘Falcon Crest’ and in ‘Dynasty’ as Rashid Ahmed, a powerful Middle Eastern magnate who fell in love with antagonist Alexis Colby (Joan Collins).

In 1984 he appears in the first film of Freddy Krueger: ‘Endless Nightmare (1984)‘, in the role of Donald Thompson, a police officer and father of the protagonist. Then he returned in the third part (‘The new nightmare’, 1993) playing himself.

In his entire career he made 198 appearances in the cinema. In recent years, he has been active in low-budget productions such as ‘Bring Me the Head of Lance Henriksen’ and ‘After the Thunderstorm’, which will be released next year.
