A man in Lahr committed an irresponsible action: drunk, he had transported a child on the bicycle handlebars – and fell.
According to a police report, the 33-year-old was riding a bike on the bike path along Breisgaustraße late Saturday afternoon around 5 p.m. He transported a child on the handlebars.
Apparently, the young passenger caught a foot in the spokes of the wheel and the team fell. Both the man and the child were injured and taken to the hospital.
A breath alcohol test on the 33-year-old showed a value of almost two per thousand, the police said. A blood alcohol test was ordered. The cyclist now faces criminal proceedings. The exact cause of the accident is the subject of the investigation.
