A prisoner of Roanne (Loire) prison took his companion hostage late Wednesday morning during a visiting room, before releasing her and surrendering, according to concordant sources.
A Regional Intervention and Security Team (ÉRIS) has started negotiations with this 30-year-old inmate. The hostage-taking started around 11 a.m. and the woman was released by the prisoner shortly after 1 p.m., the prison administration said. The man was not armed.
The detainee then surrendered at around 1:30 p.m. after negotiations with a Regional Intervention and Security Team (ERIS) dispatched to the site, which did not have to physically intervene.
A transfer claim
A source at the head of the prison administration said he was “known for his violent behavior in detention and for psychiatric disorders,” said a source at the head of the prison administration.
He claimed his transfer to another establishment, according to the same source. Placed for the time being in police custody, he should then be transferred.
