need milk for the children – 2024-03-04 04:11:22

The economic and food crisis in Cuba has reached a new extreme, so much so that the Castro regime was forced, for the first time in its history, to turn to the United Nations (UN) for help.

According to the EFE agency, the island’s government requested assistance from the UN World Food Program (WFP) to be able to supply itself with milk, given the stark shortage that the island faces of this food.

And in the last month, The dictatorship was forced to limit the distribution of milk to families with children from 0 to 6 months, leaving even babies, many of whom found their only source of nutrition, without the precious food.

Let us remember that the distribution of food in itself was quite limited, with only children under 6 years of age having the right to obtain milk, and only in a certain quantity.

“We confirm that the WFP has received an official communication from the (Cuban) Government requesting support to continue the monthly delivery of 1 kilogram of milk for girls and boys under 7 years of age throughout the country,” the WFP indicated.

The UN agency recognized an “urgent need” in Cuba due to the “deep economic crisis,” which “significantly impacts the food and nutritional security of the population.”

In its 2022 annual report, the PMA pointed out the implementation of the so-called Ordering Task, which began in January 2021, as a determining factor in the complex food crisis that Cuba is going through.

“This reform has not yet achieved the desired results. Therefore, shortages of basic products and rising global food prices contributed to national inflation,” they noted.

The fact that the regime has been forced to recognize the island’s food shortage before the United Nations makes it clear that the current crisis that the country is going through is even worse than the one recorded during the 1990s, in the so-called “ Special Period”.

And, on networks, users showed that even in that time of acute shortage due to the disintegration of the USSR, Cuba’s main benefactor, there was no shortage of milk for children.
