The driver of the car with a Russian license plate in Pārdaugava has tried to escape from the place where he inspected another driver’s car, the program “Degpunkta” reports.
In the morning, the policemen patrolling the streets of Pārdaugava were surprised by a rather unusual view, which is rather seen on the Internet. These are usually recorded with a video recorder somewhere in the vast neighborhood. A Toyota flew past a police patrol in the opposite lane, the driver of which overtaken several cars and then blocked the path of another vehicle.
Fortunately, there were no victims. When the car with the Russian license plate stopped, it was addressed by the municipal police.
When asked what happened, the driver behind the wheel answered that he had caught the mirror of the other car.
“I took the lane to turn left, enter here and apparently didn’t calculate the distance and grabbed his mirror with my mirror,” explained a rider from a neighboring country.
The offender went on to explain that he was driving in one lane behind the trolleybus and that the other car was driving in another lane. The accident happened around the point where the lanes split.
When asked by the police why the driver had left the scene, he replied that he did not immediately notice the broken mirror.
“Something happened there, I started to watch what was right and drove another five or six meters and, lo and behold, a man overtook me and stopped,” the manager explained.
As it is up to the traffic police to resolve such situations, law enforcement delayed and waited for colleagues to arrive at the scene. Further work with the drivers was taken over by the State Traffic Police, which will also decide whether the incident was really a coincidence or whether the Volkswagen driver had decided to leave the scene of the accident.
